Helia: "I fully realize what has happened ________________________, and we are all deeply sorry. But, as you are well aware, sometimes things happen that are beyond our control. Indeed, that is precisely what the word 'incident' means: things that happen beyond our control, no matter what or how many precautions we may take beforehand. And, unfortunately -- such is, always has been, and ever shall remain the very nature of this world -- and so, we just have to accept that; we just have to accept that.
"Sometimes, our dead-level best is more than good enough; and at other times, it's going to absolutely stink; for again, such is the very nature of this world. But take heart. Call upon the Light; it will come. Keep praying for the Light; it will come. No matter how futile your efforts may seem at the moment, take comfort that they will be compensated at a future time. We know not where; we know not when; we know not how. Just admit that you've tried your best, and let it go at that. This is what is known as good sportsmanship, i.e., being a good sport. We'll have a lot more fun that way.
"But if it's any comfort, the world has its compensations, too. Here's how it typically works: quite often, especially if you've had a lot of really bad days or incidents in a row, God will take pity on you; and, He will put you in control of your day! -- at least, for a little while. Yes, He will set certain acceptable boundaries; but, it will be within those boundaries that you will be able to have at least some beneficial effect on the final outcome of your day; and/or whatever it is that you're working on.
"As a matter of fact -- one of the things that we pray for, as per the Alcoholics Anonymous Serenity Prayer, is the Serenity to accept the things that we cannot change -- such as the incidental nature of this world, and that there are always going to be learning experiences, literally forever; as well as the plain fact that we're not going to be in control all the time! -- no matter how much we wish we could, however hard we may try. We also pray for the Courage to change the things that we can -- such as our own perception of ourselves and the world; and the Wisdom to know the difference -- i.e., to discern for ourselves which things we can change, and which ones we can't. Plus which, life does have its occasional compensations and small victories. And so you see, things usually do have a way of balancing out over the long term. You just need to be patient, and have faith in the process -- you know, give it some time. It'll come. Sooner or later, it will come.
"Now. There may be a time coming -- perhaps within the next century, or two -- when such a happenstance world will be no more. But in the meantime, however -- we just do the best we can; and, we strive to become ever better at whatever it is that we do as time goes on. This is ultimately how we will transform the world in the long run.
"One thing that helps is to call upon the Lord, writing your concerns down on paper, to help you sow Love for Satan and his crowd, or your enemies -- in other words: 'Lord, make me an instrument of your peace; wherever there is hatred or fear, let me sow seeds of Love -- Pure Love...' -- as Satan, while he thrives on negativity, he cannot accept or digest Love. And only Love can be the answer to any problem or question.
"In other words, we can utilize the Prayer of Saint Francis of Assisi (for whom the City and County of San Francisco are named) to help get us started: '...wherever there is doubt, help me to sow seeds of pure faith; wherever there is despair, help me to sow seeds of pure hope; where there is unforgiveness, help me to sow seeds of pure forgiveness and pardon; etc.' What we are doing is thus taking our concerns to the Lord.
"For instance, a great many of us have phobias of seeing our Lives in Review, the Afterlife, karma, reincarnation, and all such as that. Handy hint: Ask the Lord to help you uproot any and all such fears, every last one of them! -- and to sow instead seeds of pure Love of service for humankind -- nourishing them on a daily basis through your prayers, actions, and studies. This way, should we come back into physical reincarnation, it will not be because of karma. Rather, it would be for Love of being of service -- even if it does mean sacrificing a few personal comforts that we now take for granted. Love of God and mankind must and will ultimately come first."
